  • “A rich and emotive blend of rock, electro, metal and lush orchestrations.” - Ben Wiser, Popdose
  • “The tenor of Perry’s “Now You’re Gone” is also intimate and personal. It makes us feel that we are not alone in our struggles during this time of distress, stress, and anxiety.” - Maria Campbell, Gothic Goddess Media
  • “Thankfully, however, James is not the next Nickelback, or Coldplay. But, if given a good chance by someone who has brains, I can see James getting the right push to have gold on his wall, maybe even platinum. He’s that good.” - Dustin Ekman, Funeral Rain Zine

The Ice - theicepodcast meets Lamar Holley (057) • January 19th, 2010 Singer/songwriter Lamar Holley joins Nick and Chris on theicepodcast this week.  The guys get to chill out and listen to Lamar’s terrific new release ‘Confessions of a College Student’ an autobiographical pop-musical album.

Lamar discusses his developing passion for music, from being a young boy writing his favourite lyrics beside the family radio to writing about the ‘pretty girl in class’.  Lamar tells the guys about his love of musical theatre, his previous work, his classroom pop album and about the musical he’s in the process of scripting.

Lamar’s music is played throughout the show and his latest album; ‘Confessions of a College Student’ has received much praise (and we’re sure after hearing this interview you’ll know exactly why!):

“Utah native Lamar Holley emerges like a bolt out of the blue, and it’s clear he has a love of Broadway…Confessions…is like the soundtrack to an uber-nerd musical, on par with Paul Steele’s “April & I,” only at a higher grade level.”

- Powerpopaholic .com 10/10

“One of these days, I’m going to compile a “United States of Power Pop” that references power pop artists in each state of the country. Off the top of my head, I can think of several states that are unrepresented, but I can now cross Utah off the list thanks to SLC’s Lamar Holley.”
